PYPS Impressions

PYPS has touched the lives of many young people over the years. Here’s what some of them have said about their experiences:

“PYPS has given me so much; I have the most amazing friends. We are all so different. We come from different backgrounds, different walks of life, but we are all brought together by one thing, the love of Jesus Christ and the want to know him more. It has given me oppourtunities to be a leader to my peers and my elders, which in other situations I would not have had. It is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”

“Why I enjoyed PYPS so much: 2 reasons immediately come to mind.  1) Because for the first time in my life (at 14) there was a place in the world where people accepted me for being me.  I wasn’t expected to be cool or pretty or smart or dumb or anything.  I could just be ME and suddenly people liked me, and wanted to be around me, and wanted to know more about what I thought and what I cared about.  It was the most accepting place I have ever been.  And 2) Because as I became more involved in PYPS I realized that it was becoming more important in my life.  PYPS is a place where I could be not just myself—but also a minister (in different ways) to other people.  I was able to learn AND teach, take AND give back.”

“My favourite part of PYPS: the people. PYPS is a place where social status and cliques and things that define places like high school and university just don’t matter.  When you get there it just doesn’t matter anymore.  PYPS is a place that’s free—free to worship (which is one of my favourite parts of a weekend by the way—PYPS worship is the best kind of worship there is), free to learn, free to make friendships and free to minister to each other in the best ways that we can.  And I think that that’s what makes PYPS such a powerful and integral ministry for young people in our church.”
